Frazzled parents around the country face an annual dilemma for each and every one of their beloved offspring – the question of how to celebrate their birthday.

Back in the day, we’d make do with a few pals sitting in a circle in the living room playing pass the parcel and musical statues! However, these are modern times we now inhabit with great expectations from all sides (the children, their friends, their friends’ parents…) of providing a memorable experience which possesses that all-important wow factor.

So how can you keep a group of boisterous moppets happy and entertained for a couple of hours while blending fun, creativity, a little bit of learning, and – it goes without saying, really – a fabulous goody bag to take home? Why, just book your very own White Rabbit Chocolate Wonderland celebration in our special party room here at our Dyer Lane store.

And it’s worth noting that the decadent fun isn’t restricted to juniors, as we also welcome small groups of adults celebrating all manner of special occasions, including hen parties and birthdays.

Party with a chocolatey twist

We’re able to host parties on Fridays at 4pm and Saturdays at 3.30pm, which can last from just under an hour to just over two hours, depending on how many party-goers are attending – we can accommodate between six and 14 chocolatiers.

White Rabbit chocolatier Amy Fenner said: “We welcome all little chocolate-makers over the age of seven. Our party is ideal for any child who enjoys fun activities and likes a chocolatey twist, although I don’t think I’ve ever met a youngster who doesn’t love chocolate!”

The party includes a reception and introduction to the White Rabbit chocolate kitchen, followed by a chocolate-crafting workshop to make some super treats that are taken home, and there’s also a break in proceedings for the youngsters to enjoy refreshments and a sweet treat. The group enjoys exclusive use of our Chocolate Wonderland party room and kitchen, and all ingredients and expert tuition are included in the cost.

There’s a tasty perk on offer too for any parents who’d like to chill out and wait for their little ones in our comfortable café – a 10 per cent discount on the whole café menu. The party host also benefits from a special offer of 10 per cent discount on any delicious goods from our shop purchased on the day.

“The children learn how to use tempered chocolate to make a range of products. They can craft and design their own lollipops or use moulds to make a variety of chocolate shapes,” Amy added. “They can even have a go at making a chocolate basket or design their very own chocolate bar, and they have the choice of using our delicious dark, milk or white chocolate.”

Things are bound to get messy in Chocolate Wonderland, so there’s tons of fun to be had as the little ones get stuck in, with the White Rabbit team happy to take charge of clearing up at the end of the day.

Amy said: “As well as being creative and having a good time, the kids also learn some new skills in a safe environment where we don’t mind how much mess they make. They’ll be working with tempered chocolate in the same way as professionals do, and have a go at controlling chocolate using a piping bag. They’ll also learn how to apply some delicate decorations to their creations.”

Amy and her mum Sally, White Rabbit’s master chocolatier, are both former teachers and very experienced at working with groups of children.

Amy laughed: “You never know; we might even find we awaken the talents of a future chocolatier!”
